Unveiling the first 10 solutions selected for ChangeNOW 2023!

Our team has worked hard over the past few months, carefully reviewing and considering numerous applications from individuals and organizations worldwide. Even now, at the end of the Second Round of our Call for Solutions, we continue to be inspired by the solutions presented and their potential for bringing real change. We look forward to seeing ChangeNOW’s initiatives come to life in the coming months.

During our Call for Solutions, we are searching for submissions that exhibit the four critical elements: positive impact, scalability, innovation, and viability. These solutions should demonstrate a positive impact on individuals and the environment, show their ability to be replicated and scaled, challenge conventional ideas and bring new perspectives, and possess a sustainable business model that can generate revenue, manage costs and be profitable over the long term.

To ensure that all submissions are properly considered, we have assembled a team of 10 experts, each with specialized knowledge in one of the core themes of the ChangeNOW Summit. This team of Positive Impact Experts will review and assess the most promising solutions for the planet and assist us in identifying and promoting innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

After much discussion and deliberation, we are excited to announce the first 10 solutions selected to exhibit at ChangeNOW Summit 2023 (in no particular order):

Strong By Form

Cities

Strong By Form developed a digital wood technology that is capable of producing high-performance, lightweight structural components. These components are strong enough to replace steel and concrete on buildings and aluminum or fiber-reinforced plastics on electric vehicles.

Why we chose this solution :

Sustainability : The technology developed is environmentally friendly as it uses wood, a renewable resource, and has the capability to replace traditional materials like steel and concrete.

Innovation : This solution is one-of-a-kind and can potentially change how things are done in the building and automotive industries.

Seeding Africa

Food & Agriculture

Seeding Africa improves the lives of 162 communities in developing countries by providing food quality, quantity, diversity, and specialization training. They also increase agricultural productivity, modernize data collection and use, and research conservation practices and their impact on the environment through field demonstrations, training, research and data collection, and policy advocacy.

Why we chose this solution :

Impact: Their work aims to increase agricultural productivity, which can improve food security and livelihoods for communities in developing countries

Innovation: While combining field demonstrations, training, and capacity building with research and data collection, and advocacy for effective policies, this multi-faceted approach allows Seeding Africa to holistically address multiple aspects of agricultural productivity to ensure success.

Sustainability : Their efforts are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Colette is a platform connecting younger people with seniors with a spare room for rent. It allows them to share a living space, good moments, advice, and life experiences. This can help reduce waste and resource consumption, promote intergenerational exchange and connection, and build community resilience.

Why we chose this solution :

Social justice : Colette promotes intergenerational exchange and connection, which can help to address challenges such as social isolation and loneliness, particularly among older people.

Innovation : This solution offers a new and innovative approach to addressing the challenges of affordable housing and social isolation by using technology to facilitate shared living arrangements.

Resilience : Colette can help to build resilience in communities and systems by fostering a sense of connection and support between people of different ages and backgrounds.

Deaf AI

Inclusion

Deaf AI is working to help facilitate the transition between human sign language interpreters with digital humans. These digital interpreters can translate voice into sign language in real-time, making it easier for deaf people to communicate with others. Deaf AI is a social venture focusing on creating a positive global impact.

Why we chose this solution :

Relevance : Deaf AI addresses a significant challenge faced by many deaf individuals: the lack of access to effective communication and language interpretation services.

Innovation : This solution offers an innovative solution to this challenge by using digital technology to create sign language interpreters that can translate voice into sign language in real-time.

Biodiversity

Kanop is a solution that provides tools and services to help forest carbon project developers measure and understand the climate impact of their projects. This includes providing support with the measurement, reporting, and verification of carbon sequestration and emissions reduction, as well as helping to identify opportunities for improving the environmental performance of projects.

Mökki is a company that helps people sell or donate their clothes and other items by making the circular economy the new normal. To do this, they offer a convenient service where people can drop off their items at one of their locations, and Mökki will take care of the rest. They will either sell the items or donate them to someone who can use them, giving them a new life. This helps to reduce waste and promote sustainable consumption.
