Réunis à l’initiative de ChangeNOW, plus de 300 acteurs de l'impact et du monde économique français et internationaux appellent à dépasser les clivages et placer l'écologie et les limites planétaires comme des principes fondamentaux sur lesquels la société doit se construire et s'organiser, pour un avenir durable et plus humain.
Dans un monde en constante évolution, où les défis se multiplient et se complexifient, l'écologie est souvent perçue comme une contrainte supplémentaire, un luxe moral réservé à certains ou aux temps de prospérité. Pourtant, non seulement cette vision est réductrice, mais elle est aussi dangereuse. Elle oppose artificiellement l'écologie à d'autres domaines tels que l'agriculture, l'industrie, ou l'économie. Comme si protéger notre environnement nous obligeait à sacrifier le reste.
Or, l'écologie, du grec "oikos" (maison) et "logos" (science), n'est autre que la science de notre maison commune, ce cadre dans lequel toute vie sur terre est régie. Elle est intrinsèque à chaque aspect de notre existence : se nourrir, se déplacer, se vêtir, produire, tout est acte écologique, car nous opérons toujours dans les limites de notre monde. L’écologie concerne donc tout et nous concerne tous. Elle touche à l’intégralité des aspects de notre vie quotidienne, impactant notre existence commune et notre système économique. En cela, l’écologie est profondément politique.
Alors que plus de 50% de la population mondiale est appelée aux urnes en 2024, il est crucial que les enjeux environnementaux ne soient ni éclipsés, ni instrumentalisés. Au lieu d’utiliser l’écologie afin de créer du clivage et des désaccords, il faut prendre conscience qu’elle est le socle commun dont nous dépendons collectivement.
Ignorer les principes écologiques, c'est prendre le risque de devenir "hors-sol", de se déconnecter des réalités physiques qui encadrent notre existence et de creuser la fracture sociale liée aux conséquences du changement climatique. La science nous enseigne que toute action a ses effets, et l'écologie applique ce principe au domaine du vivant et de notre interaction avec lui.
Il est ainsi impératif d'adopter les limites planétaires comme guide de notre développement. Non pas comme un frein, mais comme une nécessité pour bâtir un avenir durable et plus juste, ne laissant personne de côté.
C’est dans cet esprit que nous, entrepreneurs, dirigeants, investisseurs, membres d'ONG, activistes, experts, artistes, athlètes et citoyens de tous horizons, nous rassemblerons en nombre à ChangeNOW du 25 au 27 mars à Paris, autour de solutions concrètes pour transcender la confrontation stérile entre écologie et progrès, et faire preuve d’un engagement commun pour construire un monde durable et plus humain.
Dans un monde qui pousse à nous polariser, à nous diviser, à menacer l’existence même de nos démocraties, deux éléments nous unissent tous : l'écologie et l'humanité. L’écologie, en tant que science de notre maison commune, car elle définit, telle une loi physique, le cadre dans lequel nous vivons. L’humanité, car elle définit, telle une loi morale, ce que nous sommes tous.
Il est temps de considérer l'écologie non pas comme une contrainte, mais comme le fondement de notre avenir commun.
